Nissan is working on another small car for the Indian market slotted below the Micra to take on the Hyundai Santro, Maruti Alto and Chevrolet Spark.
“We’re seriously studying the launch of a small car below the Micra. We see great opportunity in the small car segment,” said Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motor India.
The small car segment is one of the most vital segments in India and all car makers are targeting multiple models to grab a larger pie. This segment is also the fastest growing segment.
Nissan unveiled its Sunny sedan for the Indian market which will be launched in October.
Nissan is looking to triple sales by the end of this fiscal to 40,000 units as it expands dealerships. The small car will give the car maker added boost which sells the Micra hatchback, Teana sedan, X-Trail SUV and 370Z coupe.
