Hyundai India saw an increase of 15.52 per cent in domestic sales for May at 27,151 units.The company had sold 23,503 units in the domestic market in May 2009.
Total sales in May increased 7.30 per cent to 46,808 units from 43,624 units in the same month last year. However Hyundai which is also India’s largest car exporter, however, saw its exports slide by 2.31 per cent in the month.
The company sold 19,657 units in overseas markets in May compared to 20,121 units in the year-ago period. The i20 model has continued to grow by around 35 per cent monthly. In the A2 segment (Santro, i10, i20 and Getz Prime), the company sold 42,460 units in May, while in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna) sales were at 4,310 units.
In the A4 segment (Elantra), the company sold one unit last month. The A5 segment (Sonata Transform) of HMIL witnessed sales of 37 units, while its SUV Tucson had no buyers in May.
