Vespa India official website up, Goa dealership opening soon

Piaggio is all set to officially launch the Vespa scooter in the Indian market very soon. Vespa will mark its third entry in India and this time the company is going solo.

The Italian scooter maker has launched its Indian website http://www.vespaindia.com to further connect to its customers.

Vespa will launch the first scooter on the 26th of April in Mumbai and sales will commence pan India on the same day.

The Vespa LX125 scooter will be powered by a 124 cc engine, producing 10.26 Bhp of peak power at and 9.6 Nm of peak torque at 7250 RPM. The Scooter gets a CVT gearbox. The Vespa LX125 will be available in 5 colours namely red, silver, yellow, orange and blue. The scooter will compete with the likes of Honda Activa and Suzuki Swish.

Piaggio India has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Baramati for the production of the Vespa. The plan has an initial capacity of 150,000. The Vespa will hit Indian roads in April 2012 and will be initially available in 35 main cities.
