Tata testing Vista with Dicor engine, launch in October

Tata Motors is working on a new engine option for the Vista hatch. The company is testing the Vista with the DICOR engine which will replace the 1.4 TDi engine. The DICOR engine also known as CR4, is developed by Tata and in 2011 the company launched the old Indica and Indigo CS with the new fuel efficient DICOR engine, and claims a mileage of 25 kmpl.

Currently Tata Motors offers 2 diesel engine options on the Vista: 1.4 TDi and the 1.3 Quadrajet which is the Tata version of the Fiat Multijet.

Tata may now plonk the same which will help the car maker to offer a lower cost diesel variant under the Quadrajet and replace the TDi all together. This move will also help the company launch the car in BS4 cities. The 1396cc CR4 is fuel efficient with a claimed mileage of 25kmpl and is BS4 complaint. The engine produces a decent power of 70 Ps and 140 Nm of Torque.

The car was caught testing in Pune and only had a CR4 badge over the front wheel arch. Our friends at Motorbash who caught the car testing, states the launch to happen in October.

The Sub compact hatch segment has been witnessing a immense competition and new players are launching products with more features with lower prices. Tata needs a more competitive pricing strategy of the Vista and will have offer higher refinement levels as compared to its competitors.
