VW to launch Polo 1.6 in October

Volkswagen will launch its small car with more powerful engine. VW Polo 1.6 will hit the roads around October. Volkswagen announced at the 2010 Delhi auto expo that they plan to launch 2 engines for its small car Polo.
Polo 1.6 will come with a 1598cc engine which produces 103.5 bhp at 5250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm. It will be quicker by 3 seconds and will have a top speed of 183.8 kmph. It gets a electric hydraulic power steering and 0-100 is 11.1 seconds.

As a first step, the Volkswagen brand launched the globally successful Passat in 2007. To expand its portfolio and cater to the mid segment, Volkswagen launched one of the brand’s bestselling models, the Jetta, in India in July 2008. Both the sedans are being assembled locally.
VW Beetle : Curves are back

Volkswagen India has launched a new campaign for the Volkswagen Beetle. After the car’s launch late last year, Volkswagen has made some minor design changes to the car and the new campaign looks at reiterating the car’s ‘Curves are back’ positioning.
Bobby Pawar, chief creative officer DDB Mudra, said, “ The Beetle was launched at a time when everyone was running towards size zero and anorexia. With this new commercial we are trying to show that people actually desire curves. The Beetle is a very curvy car. It has never been a car that follows a set pattern. When everyone was looking to go big, the Beetle stayed small. It has always been more than just a car.”

VW to launch smaller car than Polo

Volkswagen India is not satisfied with one small car and looking at introducing another small car under the Polo in India to tap the fast-growing compact car segment in the country.
Kurt Rippholz:
Asked about the models below the Polo that could be considered for the Indian market, he said: “There’s the Fox in Brazil and Ebisa that’s sold in Spain. But India is a different market. First, we have to decide which car it will be.”
“Believe me, we will have something smaller than the Polo. We are working on it,” Volkswagen Group’s India Communication Head Kurt Rippholz said here.

VW to ramp up Polo production

Volkswagen India said it will ramp up the output of its latest offering, compact car Polo in India to clear order backlog, which has now crossed 5,700 units within two months of launch.
Volkswagen rolled out the Polo hatchback, priced between Rs. 4.34 and Rs 6.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), in March. It has sold 1,599 units so far, out of a total booking of 7,300 cars. Currently it has a waiting period of up to four months. More >
