GM rolls out 1,00,000th Chevrolet Spark

Chevrolet India rolled out its 1,00,000th Chevrolet Spark from Halol plant in Gujrat. The hatchback is produced at the company’s Halol and Talegaon plants, which has a total production capacity of 225,000 units per annum.
“Chevrolet Spark has performed exceedingly well in the Indian market. The car continues to record impressive growth in sales month after month,” General Motors said in a statement.The Chevrolet Spark id GM’s highest selling model in India and comes with 1 litre engine.

Chevrolet’s stall at the Auto Expo has been done up in three themes namely Dream, Performance and Hot Hatch. The Dream section is featuring the Volt, Electric Spark, Spark LPG, and Aveo CNG.The Performance section is featuring the Camaro, WTCC Cruze, Captiva Extreme, and the regular Cruze.The Hot Hatch section is featuring the Beat which was launched yesterday on 4th Jan.
The 1.2-litre car, Chevrolet Beat will be available in three variants and will be launched in over 150 markets

General Motors said it will display six production and concept vehicles during the Auto Expo here next month, besides putting on display its soon-to-be-launched mini car ‘Beat’.

GM launches LPG version of Spark, to cost Rs 3.52 lakh

General Motors India launched the LPG version of its small car Spark in the country, priced at Rs. 352,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
“We plan to continue to introduce the variance of the Spark that targets different groups of customers. This will enable us to achieve our goal of becoming a market leader in India by giving our customers the vehicles that they want, when they want them,” General Motors India President and Managing Director Karl Slym told reporters here.

The Spark LPG comes with a 4 cylinder 8V SOHC MPFI, 63 Ps petrol mode/60 Ps LPG mode power and 90.3@4200 petrol/88.4@4200 LPG Nm torque. The new Spark LPG has mileage of 13.72 Km/L in the LPG mode and in 18.29 Km/L in the Petrol mode. The Spark LPG has a fuel tank capacity of 38 litres of petrol and 26.2 litres. The company also plans to launch luxury sedan Chevrolet Cruze in September and a mini car by the end of this year. Earlier this week the company had said its India operations will remain unaffected despite its parent filing for bankruptcy protection, but it is currently facing difficulties in raising funds for completing its engine manufacturing plant at Talegaon in Maharashtra.
