Hyundai’s next generation hatchback i10 has overtaken the company’s best-selling car, Santro, to become the flagship model for the Korean auto major, according to the sales figures for the past few months.

Hyundai Motor India introduced the new model of its flagship brand Santro. The new Santro has been designed with luxurious interiors and improved exterior features to further enhance its appeal to the customers.
The new version of Santro is further aimed at delighting our customers with luxurious interiors, advance styling and enhanced comfort.” The original ‘Tall Boy’ Santro has been continuously improved to meet the changing customer needs and has kept itself abreast of the latest technology and design. While the new Santro continues to be powered by the trusted 1.1 eRLX Epsilon engine that develops a whopping 63PS@5500rpm as maximum power and 9.8 kgm@3000rpm as maximum torque and has a proven fuel-economy,durability and power-efficiency.
The new Santro has many added features to considerably raise the bar for cars in this segment.
On the exterior the new Santro will be distinguished by a body coloured Radiator Grille and Full Wheel Cover and the rear gets decidedly more sporty with the addition of a Rear Spoiler which further highlights the new look Santro.

Hyundai to launch new Santro on September 1st

Hyundai India Motor will launch a revised version of Santro in September. “We will launch a revised version of the Santro on September 1, and an 800 cc car in a few years,” said H.S. Lheem.
The new Santro will have a new face and a new engine to which will be upgraded to meet the upcoming Bharat Stage 4 emission norms. The Santro will also have refreshed interiors. Expect a rise in price.

Hyundai to introduce 1.1 litre diesel i10

The country’s third largest car maker Hyundai Motor India is looking to build a diesel engine plant in the country. The auto maker has got an in-principle approval from its parent in South Korea, people familiar with the development said.
The firm is likely to invest at least Rs. 500 crore to build a factory that would have an installed capacity to produce around 100,000 engines, said people, who declined to be named. The capacity may be expanded later. Hyundai Motor India declined to comment on the matter.
The company is likely to introduce a diesel variant of its i10 hatchback model in the next eight-12 months and likely to import the engine to start with and eventually look at localizing the 1.1-litre diesel engine, the people said.
It also plans to localize the 1.4-litre diesel engine for i20 model, which is currently being imported. Localization of these engines is likely to bring down the cost of the cars by almost 15-20% .

Hyundai India reduces prices of Sonata Transform

Hyundai india announced that it will pass on the full benefits of the additional duty of excise reduction announced by the finance minister in the recent budget. According to the duty reduction announced in the budget any car equipped with an engine capacity of over 2 litre will have a reduced excise duty.
Earlier the additional duty of excise was Rs 20,000 but after the recent budget announcement this has been brought down by Rs 5,000. The Sonata Transform is powered by a 2.4 litre engine and hence directly benefits from the duty reduction.
The new Sonata Transform was launched in January, 2009 and is sold in petrol, Diesel and with an Automatic transmission for the diesel variant. The total cost benefit to the customer will be Rs. 5,852 and the new price for the Sonata petrol is now an attractive Rs. 1,384,448 ( ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Hyundai launches i20 diesel and i20 petrol automatic

Hyundai Motor India launched two new versions of its premium compact hatchback, the i20. Hyundai launched the i20 1.4L CRDi and the 1.4L petrol with a automatic transmission.
Powerful yet fuel-efficient, the Hyundai i20 diesel comes with a 1.4L CRDi engine with a maximum power of 90PS@4000rpm and a peak torque of 22.4kgm@1750~2750 rpm. The engine delivers unmatched power, best-in-class torque, class leading technology and excellent fuel efficiency.
With the launch of i20 diesel, Hyundai plans to tap the vast potential that exists in the diesel car segment in India. The powerful, CRDi powerplant boasts of state-of-the-art technological innovations like the Electrical EGR (Exhaust Gas Re-circulation) with EGR cooler and eco-friendly oil filter that reduces pollution and the maintenance cost; LAMBDA sensor that delivers maximum fuel efficiency, Swirl Control Valves that guarantees enhanced class-leading performance, Roller swingarm & HLA (Hydraulic Lash Adjusters) that ensures peak performance with low noise and low maintenance and the DOHC, 16 Valve engine provides maximum driving pleasure with high fuel economy.
