Yamaha June sales up

India Yamaha Motor has registered 32% growth in sales during June 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year with its exciting product line-up and innovative marketing initiatives.
It sold 28,155 units in June 2010 as against 21,278 units sold in June 2009. In domestic markets, the company sold 21,157 units in June 2010 as compared to 17,878 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 6,998 units in June 2010 while 3,400 units were exported in June 2009. More >
Fiat small car to take on Alto

Fiat India is gearing up to make a splash of its own in the country’s booming small car market by launching an India-specific car in 2012. The company’s much-talked about new small car will not bear any resemblance to the company’s Uno model. The car will be launched in 2012 and will be an entry-level model, priced much below the company’s premium hatchback, Punto.
“It will be an all-new car, nothing to do with any of our other models and will be priced aggressively. It will compete with the Alto and will have a one-litre engine,” Rajeev Kapoor, MD, Fiat India . More >
Tata to launch 0.5 tonne Ace by March 2011

In 2005, Tata Motors created a new segment in the small commercial vehicle — with Ace the little wonder. It prompted the other three-wheeler majors to enter the category, which is today the fastest growing among light commercial vehicles.
Tata after launching various versions of the Ace like Ace HT, Ace EX and Super Ace 1 tonne is now planning to launch a smaller version which is code named Penguin. The Penguin which shares its platform with Magic Iris will be launched before the end of the financial year 2010-2011.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data shows that Ace, which had a dominant market share of 87% in the goods carrier category for the last fiscal, has been recording a decline since January when M&M launched its Gio & Maxximo. More >
Premier Rio launched in Goa

Premier which was known for its Premier Padmini has launched its new SUV Rio in Goa. Along with the launch Premier also has opened a new showroom in Goa. Sonoo Premier is appointed as the new dealer which will take care of all sales and service activities regarding the Rio.
The Premier Rio comes with an 1.4 litre diesel engine. other features include Air conditioning, power steering, power windows, electric door mirrors, remote control locking, split foldable rear seats, Alloy wheels, Anti lock braking system (ABS).
Toyota Fortuner bookings re-open

Toyota has announced that bookings for the Fortuner will reopen from July 1, 2010 across India. The company had put a hold on the bookings from January 31, 2010 because of a backlog of orders booked in.
The Toyota Fortuner was launched in August 2009, and since then has sold more than 8,500 units with a commanding market share of more than 60 per cent in the mid SUV segment. To meet the high demand, the company has increased the production of the Fortuner to more than 950 units per month from the initial 500 units per month.
